Diamond Education

Everything you need to buy with confidence

How lab-grown diamonds are made, what the 4Cs really mean, and the questions we hear most.

100% Pure Diamond

Identical isometric carbon crystal lattice, 10 Mohs hardness, and 2.42 refractive brilliance. Not an imitation.

IGI & GIA Certified

Independently evaluated with full 4Cs grading reports and laser-inscribed girdle registries for lifetime verification.

💎

Type IIa Purity

Zero nitrogen impurities. Only the top 1-2% of mined diamonds reach Type IIa, while all Lucent Carat stones achieve this elite tier.

🌱

60–80% Greater Value

Direct-from-atelier pricing allows you to acquire a significantly larger, higher-clarity stone for the same investment.

Interactive 4Cs Exploration Guide

The 4Cs (Cut, Color, Clarity, Carat) govern every diamond's beauty and worth. Select a C below to master how grades influence brilliance and price.

👑 The Most Important C

Cut Grade: Ideal / Super Ideal

Crafted with mathematical perfection according to Tolkowsky optical formulas. Refracts and reflects nearly 100% of entering light back through the crown as blinding white brilliance and vivid rainbow fire.

Total Internal Reflection

When light enters an Ideal Cut diamond, 100% of light bounces off the pavilion facets and shoots back out through the table directly to your eye.

Diamond Education & Buying FAQs

Everything you need to know about certification, durability, and buying strategy before selecting your stone.

Are lab-grown diamonds 100% real diamonds?+
Yes, undeniably. Lab-grown diamonds share the exact same chemical composition (pure crystallized carbon in an isometric lattice), physical hardness (10 on the Mohs scale), and optical properties (2.42 refractive index) as earth-mined diamonds. They are graded by the same independent institutions (IGI & GIA) using identical 4Cs criteria.
Do lab diamonds pass a handheld diamond tester pen?+
Yes. Thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity testers will read 100% genuine diamond because they ARE diamond. Only multi-thousand-dollar gemological laboratory spectrometers (which measure microscopic crystal growth patterns) can determine whether a diamond was crystallized in a plasma reactor or the earth's mantle.
Why are lab-grown diamonds 60% to 80% less expensive?+
Earth-mined diamonds carry century-old markup chains: mining conglomerates, geopolitical export tariffs, diamond bourses, and multi-tier wholesale brokers. Lab diamonds are synthesized in high-tech laboratories and cut directly by master lapidaries, eliminating the bloated supply chain markup entirely.
Will a lab diamond ever discolor, fade, or get cloudy over time?+
Never. With a hardness of 10/10, diamond is the hardest mineral in the universe. It will never cloud, scratch from daily wear, or lose its brilliance across generations of continuous wear.
How can I independently verify my diamond's certificate?+
Every Lucent Carat certified diamond includes a microscopic laser inscription on its girdle with its unique IGI or GIA report number. You can type this number into the official IGI (igi.org) or GIA (gia.edu) international registry to view the original digital grading report.
What is the difference between CVD and HPHT growth methods?+
CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) grows diamonds in a vacuum plasma chamber from carbon gas onto a diamond seed plate, creating ultra-pure Type IIa stones. HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) utilizes massive hydraulic presses and 1500°C temperatures replicating the earth's mantle. Both produce 100% genuine diamonds.
Where is the smartest place to save money on the 4Cs?+
Never compromise on Cut (always choose Ideal or Excellent). However, you can comfortably choose G or H Color and VS1 or VS2 Clarity without seeing any visible difference with the naked eye, freeing up your budget to invest in a much larger carat size!
